Union Government gave Rs 10865 crores for Jal Jeevan Mission, only 3065 crores spent in Jharkhand

Ranchi : Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Government of India has allocated Rs 10865 crore to Jharkhand in the last 5 years, in which the government has been able to utilize only Rs 3065 crore.

At the same time, in the financial year 2023-24, the Government of India has allocated an amount of 4722 crores for Jharkhand, but even after 4 months of this financial year, the government has not yet withdrawn any amount from it.

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Visheshwar Tudu gave this information when asked by MP Sanjay Seth in the Lok Sabha.

The Union Minister told the House that Jharkhand has been allocated an amount of 267 crores in 2019, 572 crores in 2020-21, 2479 crores in 2021-22, 2825 crores in 2022-23 and 4722 in 2024.

In comparison, the state government is not able to utilize these funds.

In 2019, the Jharkhand government used Rs 291 crore, while in 2020-21, Rs 143 crore was used, while in 2021-22, Rs 512 crore was used, while in 2022-23, Rs 2119 crore was used.

The Union Minister also informed that according to the report provided by the State Government, tap water connections have been provided to 20.50 lakh rural households in Jharkhand in the past.

On the other hand, by July 2023, out of 61.28 lakh rural households in the state, 23 lakh households have been reported to have tap water supply.
