Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana is a unique and meaningful initiative to provide cheap and quality medicines: Governor

Ranchi: Governor CP Radhakrishnan said that when a person from a low-income family suffers from a disease due to excessive expenditure on his treatment the budget of his entire family deteriorates, financial difficulties are faced and it is adversely affected.  In this perspective, cheap and effective treatment of people can be done through “Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana”.

Under this, it is a unique and meaningful initiative to provide cheap and quality medicines to the people he said adding effective implementation of this scheme is necessary, this will give the desired relief to the people. It should be accessible to every citizen living in the state, proper efforts should be made in this direction.

He said that the right treatment should be looked at, not the brand. The Governor was addressing the program organized at Audrey House, Ranchi on the occasion of “5th Janaushadhi Diwas” under “Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana”.

The Governor said that the theme of the day is “Jan Aushadhi – Sasti Bhi Achhi Bhi”, dedicated to the availability and accessibility of affordable medicines for all sections of our society. He said that the ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana’ was launched by Prime Minister in order to enable the poorest of the poor in society to get better medical facilities, which is a boon in the field of health for low-income families. 

On the other hand, effective measures have been taken to ensure the availability of quality medicines at affordable prices through Jan Aushadhi Yojana. The Governor said that it is very important and beneficial in the context of Jharkhand state. People living in remote areas will be benefitted by the proper implementation of these schemes.

He asked to ensure the availability of generic medicines in each district and community level hospitals and at the local level so that more and more people could get benefits.

He asked to pay special attention to providing medicines under the Jan Aushadhi Yojana in tribal-dominated areas. The scheme has made a significant impact on the lives of common people by providing quality generic medicines at affordable prices. He talked about spreading awareness among people about this scheme and encouraging people to take advantage of this scheme.

On this occasion, Health Minister Banna Gupta said that ‘Jan Aushadhi Divas’ should not be limited to just one day, better results should come. There is a need to bring public awareness towards this. He said that a major part of the common man’s income is health expenditure, in such a situation the use of generic medicines would be a mass revolution in the field of health. He asked the doctors to encourage generic medicines. In the program, Mayor, Ranchi Dr Asha Lakra said that the cost of Jan Aushadhi medicine is less than 50 percent.

He said that when she goes to inaugurate Jan Aushadhi Kendras, enthusiasm is seen among the people towards these centres. He said that efforts should be made to open a maximum number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in various tribal and remote areas of the state.
