Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has said that the departure of polling personnel has started for the fifth phase of voting. This process will be completed by Sunday. In the fifth phase, voting is to be held in Chatra, Hazaribagh and Koderma on May 20.
He informed that 148 polling workers and sector officers have been sent to the polling stations for Latehar and Chatra through helidropping. He was holding a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Saturday. He said that women have outweighed men in voting in the fourth phase of elections. In this phase, voting took place in Singhbhum, Khunti, Lohardaga and Palamu.
A total of 10,03,482 votes were cast in Singhbhum, which is 69.32 percent of the total voters. In this, women cast 5,14,639 votes i.e. 69.93 percent. Whereas men cast 4,88,836 votes i.e. 68.69 percent. Only in Seraikela, one of the six assembly constituencies of this parliamentary constituency, the voting percentage of men has been higher than that of women.
A total of 9,27,422 votes were cast in Khunti, which is 69.93 percent of the total voters. In this, women cast 4,76,292 votes i.e. 70.50 percent. Whereas men cast 4,51,127 votes i.e. 69.35 percent. In only one assembly constituency, Tamar, out of the six in this parliamentary constituency, the voting percentage of men has been higher than that of women.
A total of 9,57,690 votes were cast in Lohardaga, which is 66.45 percent of the total voters. In this, women cast 4,99,182 votes i.e. 68.63 percent. Whereas men cast 4,58,507 votes i.e. 64.22 percent. In all the 5 assembly constituencies of this parliamentary constituency, the voting percentage of women has been more than that of men.
A total of 13,74,358 votes were cast in Palamu, which is 61.27 percent of the total voters. In this, women cast 6,96,787 votes i.e. 64.51 percent. Whereas men cast 6,77,570 votes i.e. 64.10 percent. In Daltonganj, only one of the six assembly constituencies of this parliamentary constituency, the voting percentage of men has been higher than that of women.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the focus of the Election Commission is on increasing the voting percentage. Various measures are being taken regarding this along with public awareness. For this, there will be emphasis on making aware voters and on mobilization to take voters to the polling booth.
He said that measures have been taken to increase the speed of voting so that people do not have to wait too long to vote. Under this, three voters are being given the facility to go inside the polling station and vote at one time.
At the booth where there are more than 1200 voters, an additional polling worker is being deployed so that the queue does not become long, the speed of voting increases and people do not have to wait.
The polling personnel kept in reserve will also be deployed at polling stations as per requirement. Appealing to the voters, he said that while going to vote, they must note down the serial number of the voter list and take it with them. With this, unnecessary time will not be wasted in matching the serial number of the voter with the voter list.
If the Voter Information Slip has not reached the voter, they can also note down their serial number from the Voter Helpline App. He said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, Rs 1 billion 19 crore has been seized in the form of illegal material and cash. ₹50 lakh has been seized.
