Health Minister attacks Centre over shortage of vaccines in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Health Minister Banna Gupta on Wednesday attacked the Centre over the lack of Covid vaccines.

Talking with the press at the Congress office here he said that Jharkhand was among such states where people honour even a single piece of food and understand its price and it was due to this reason the wastage of Coronavirus vaccine was very less in Jharkhand.

Gupta said that on March 13 Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that India will become the vaccine hub for the entire nation and will provide vaccines to all the countries but now in the country itself the vaccines are facing shortage and especially in backward states like Jharkhand vaccination centres are on the verge of closure. He claimed that it was only due to the shortage of the vaccines the Centre first asked the people to take the second dose after four weeks which was later increased to 6 weeks and thereafter to 12 to 16 weeks.

He said that it appears that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has forgot about Jharkhand. He said that Jharkhand too was part of the country and the great martyrs of the state had played a great role in the freedom struggle movement.

Gupta even appealed to the MPs of the BJP to request the Prime Minister and other Union Ministers to address the scarcity of vaccines in Jharkhand and said that if needed he was ready to accompany the BJP leaders over the issue. He alleged that BJP was misleading the people over the issue of vaccination.

He said that while on one hand less vaccines were being provided to the state on the other hand it was being alleged that wastage of vaccines was more in Jharkhand which was complete opposite of the claims.

He informed that he has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that Bharat Ratna be given to the scientists who had developed the Coronavirus vaccine in such a short time.
