Government to provide sari/dhoti to 58 lakh ration card holders under Sona-Sobran Scheme

Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Finance and Food Supplies Minister Dr Rameshwar Oraon has said that the state government will provide one sari, dhoti-lungi each to 58 lakh ration card holders under Sona-Sobran scheme.

Dr Rameshwar Oraon while talking to reporters on Thursday said that the state government will distribute 1.16 crore sarees, dhoti-lungi under this scheme.

He said that the government is committed towards providing food grains to all under the Food Security Scheme and will now also provide sarees, dhoti or lungi to cover the body. He said that dhoti-sari and lungi would be made available to everyone from the same public distribution system shop from where ration is taken. He said that dhoti-sari and lungi will be available to the people at the cost of Rs 10 and it will be of good quality. If people buy it from a wholesale cloth seller located in Upper Bazar of Ranchi, then each sari will cost Rs 400, lungi will cost Rs 350 and dhoti will cost Rs 400.

State Congress president said that soon work will be started on an action plan to give benefit of this scheme to green ration card holders also. He said that for the supervision of the scheme, the help of the workers of the allies involved in the alliance would also be taken and the responsibility would also be entrusted to the party workers.

State Congress Committee spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo and Dr Rajesh Gupta Chhotu were also present on the occasion.
