CS Reviews Kala Azar in four districts

Ranchi, Jun 15: Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma reviewed the status of
Kala Azar in four districts of the state and issued necessary
instructions to the health department and the concerned district
administration in this regard.
The districts of Godda, Dumka, Pakur and Sahibganj are hit with the
diseases. She directed the health department to depute an official for
the Kala Azar and also make arrangements for spray of medicines,
machines and other equipments in all the districts. She also directed
to make sure that medicines are available at the health care centers
and adequate arrangements be made for identification and treatment of
the people. She said that the civil surgeons would be held completely
accountable for that.
The Chief Secretary directed the DCs to conduct massive campaigns for
the eradication of the disease. She asked them to identify the
patients at panchayat/block/district levels and take the help of
social capital in the form of sakhi mandals, ANM, sahiays, sahaikas
who would be held responsible for their areas. She said that apart
from flagging off campaign vans, posters, hoardings and booklets be
distributed among the people. She said that the block level the
BDO/MOIC would be held responsible. She said that the patients
suffering from Kala Azar should be provided the benefits under the
various schemes including ration cards/agricultural schemes/sakhi
mandals etc. She said that eradication of Kala Azar was very important
for the state and those who work better for its eradication would also
be felicitated.
