Schools to remain open from 6 AM to 12 PM in state

Ranchi: The school timings in government schools of Jharkhand will remain from 6 am to 12 noon.

On the instructions of Education Secretary Rajesh Sharma, the Deputy Commissioners or District Education Superintendents of those districts have started withdrawing their order which had changed the school timings from 6:30 am to 10:30 am. In Ranchi also, by issuing an order on May 02, the school timings were changed from 6 am to 10.30 am.

Later, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan withdrew this order and changed the time of operation of schools from 6 am to 12 noon in light of the notification issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy on April 13.

Education Minister Jaggarnath Mahto had also announced last week that in view of the heat the school timings were being changed from 6 am to 10.30 am. However, the department did not issue an order regarding this.

Now, despite the minister’s announcement, questions are being raised about the change in the time of operation of the schools. However, the minister later suggested the schools to change the timings as per their discretion and requirement.

In the districts of Ranchi, Deoghar, Hazaribagh, East Singhbhum etc, after the order was not issued by the department, the time of the schools was changed by the Deputy Commissioners themselves.
