Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar has asked the Transport Department to manage vehicles during the Lok Sabha elections in such a way that the atmosphere does not remain curfew-like on the voting day. Take every possible care to ensure that common citizens do not face any inconvenience in transportation.
Polling personnel and security forces associated with election work, including common citizens, should not face any inconvenience while traveling during election duty. For this, make sure to make an assessment and submit a report related to vehicle management by 26 April 2024.
Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar on Thursday discussed vehicle management through video conferencing with all the Divisional Commissioners, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority, District Transport Officer and Deputy Election Officer of all the districts from the Election House.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that concrete arrangements should also be made to bring disabled and senior voters to the polling stations so that the voters who are unable to walk to the polling station on their own are facilitated and they reach the polling station enthusiastically and vote.
He directed to prepare a plan for the availability of small vehicles at the local level for disabled and senior voters. He directed to make advance preparation of vehicles and ensure arrangements by establishing contact with nearby districts as per requirement.
State Police Nodal Officer AV Homkar said that preparations should be made in advance to arrange vehicles to transport the police personnel, so that the police personnel do not face any problem and they can reach the respective destination on time.
In the meeting, Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar, Transport cum Welfare Secretary Kripanand Jha, State Police Nodal Officer apart from Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Singh and Dr. Neha Arora, STF DIG Inderjit Mahatha, IG Dhananjay Kumar Singh, State level officers of Assistant Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Sweep. Devdas Dutta and other senior officials associated with election work were present.
Whereas, all the Divisional Commissioners, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority, District Transport Officers and Deputy Election Officers of all the districts were connected to the meeting through video conferencing.
