Ranchi, Jun 7: In an encounter between the security personnel and the Maoists which took place on the bordering areas of Khunti and Saraikela-Kharsawan districts of the state a jawan of the Cobra and an ASI of the Jharkhand police were martyred.
Police Headquarter sources in Ranchi have confirmed the two casulaities which has been sustained by the security personnel but maintained that many ultras have also sustained bullet injuries. Sources said that search operation was on in the area however due to dense forest choppers have not been pressed in operations.
Police sources said that acting on a secret tip off regarding the presence of maoists at Badani Forest located under the bordering areas of Arki Police Station of Khunti and Saraikela a team of the Cobra, district police and jawans of Jharkhand Jaguar conducted a serach operation.
Upon seeing the police the maoist opened fire indiscriminately in which the jawan of the Cobra battalion and an ASI of Saraikela police were martyred. Police has also recovered some arms and ammunitons from the spot.
