Villagers block traffic movement in Bokaro over alleged rape of minor student

Bokaro: Locals blocked traffic movement in Petarwar of Bokaro district protesting against the rape of a minor student.

Two minor boys were also caught by the villagers and handed over to the police. Police quoting locals said that the girl had on Wednesday left her home for going to school. Villagers alleged that both the boys had raped the girl and were trying to flee after leaving her behind next to the road.

On Thursday morning people came on the roads demanding justice for the girl. Upon receiving information Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Chowdhary reached Bokaro Sadar Hospital and talked to the victim. He also staged a dharna inside the hospital premises accusing the local police of trying to suppress the matter. The issue was raised in the Vidhan sabha also with BJP MLA Manish Jaiswal raising the matter. AJSU MLA Lambodar Mahto also raised the issue and accused the district administration of trying to create an eyewash over the issue.

Both the MLAs demanded that in this case a Fast Track court should be set up and justice be delivered to the victim. On his part, Bokaro SP Chandan Jha has claimed that the girl has not been raped. He claimed that the girl has said that both the boys are her friends and she had come with them for sightseeing. As the situation got tense police teams from different police stations along with Bermo SDPO also reached the spot. People are claiming that the girl hails from the Dalit community and the boys are from the minority community due to which tension had grown in the area.
