Ranchi: A meeting was held today on Thursday regarding the Sparsh leprosy awareness program organized under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme. District Leprosy Prevention Officer Dr. RN Sharma, Medical Officer Dr Azimur Rab Mustafa, Dr Shobha Kispotta, Health Officer Shalini Nayak, Physiotherapist Pushpa Kumari and others were present in the meeting organized under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ranchi Chhavi Ranjan.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner inquired about the programmes run under Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign from January 30 to February 13 to make Ranchi district leprosy free. The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Leprosy Prevention Officer to provide the report of the programs run during the fortnight. He directed to clear the misconceptions about leprosy and to make people aware of the facilities provided by the health department to leprosy patients.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also directed to disseminate messages related to prevention and prevention of leprosy through various mediums. He said that publicity should be spread in the main institutions, block offices, haats, markets and public places of the city.
