Team that went to destroy opium plantations attacked, 12 injured

Hazaribagh: Forest department team has been attacked in Hazaribagh.

The team had gone to destroy opium cultivation 24 km away from Chauparan police station of the district.

In the afternoon, the employees were eating food, when the villagers took the support of the wild bush and started pelting stones.

Along with this, 25-30 people used sharp weapons like axe, spear, bow, rod, bow and arrow, sword, stick, khachauwa.

Made a fatal attack with guns and other weapons.

In which 12 employees of the department were injured.

Also, the smugglers completely damaged two tractors and two bikes which were destroying opium and took them into their possession.

After which the Forest Department team returned from there and today on Thursday they are demanding police force.

Whereas till now the forest department has not been given a police team citing lack of sufficient security personnel in the police station.

In such a situation, the Forest Department team is not able to go for raid again.

There is a danger of attack there.

The forest department team had reached the highly insurgency-affected Dhodhiya of Daihar Panchayat of Chauparan to destroy opium cultivation.

A joint team of Gautam Buddha Wildlife Sanctuary and Territorial Forest Department had gone for action.

A campaign to destroy opium crops was launched on Thursday.

The joint team destroyed about 17 acres of opium fields located in Dhodhiya forest from morning till 1 o’clock.

They sat down to eat at 1:30 and were fatally attacked by smugglers at 2 o’clock.

Forester Mo Ayub and Forest Guard Pankaj Kumar said that the team of the Regional Forest Department, under the leadership of Forester-in-charge Rahul Kumar, included foresters and daily wage laborers from Chauparan Range, Barhi Range and Barkatta Range.

The team of Hazaribagh district under the leadership of forester Mohd. Ayub Ansari, the team in-charge of Gautam Buddha Wildlife Sanctuary, had come to Dhodiya forest jointly to take part in the campaign.

A team of 50 forest department personnel had gone to Dhodiya forest at 10 am to destroy the opium crop.

The poppy crop (opium) field spread over about 17 acres was destroyed with tractors and sticks.

Forester in-charge of Century Department Mohd. Ayub Ansari, Rajdev Yadav, Rajkumar Singh, Keshar Singh Kherwar, Shravan Kumar Mehta, driver Pramod Kumar Singh, Jagdish Yadav of Regional Forest Department, father Kewal Yadav Newri Karma, Manoj Birhor father Chandra Birhor village Bigha and one and a half Dozens of people were injured.

Among the injured, the condition of Jagdish Yadav is critical, who was referred to Hazaribagh.
