Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren participated in a foundation laying stone ceremony of a world-class Azim Premji University, a 500-bed medical college and school in Itki. An investment of Rs 5 thousand crore is being made by the institute in Itki. In the coming times, Itki will have a different identity in the country. Teaching work will start in Azim Premji University and School by the year 2026. The light of the work being done by Azim Premji Foundation will reach far and wide. The work of the Foundation to provide assistance to the weakest families will be done with commitment.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said these things while addressing the inauguration program of construction of world class Azim Premji University, Medical College and School organized at TB Sanatorium Ground, Itki. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that our government is moving away from mineral resources and exploring other possibilities of development. Jharkhand is generally known for its mineral wealth. Despite abundance of mineral resources, Jharkhand has remained at the rank of backward states.
Mineral resources have been extracted here for almost 100 years, but its benefits have not been fully availed by the people of Jharkhand including the tribals, indigenous people, poor and backward minorities of any class or community. Jharkhand is such a state in the country where electricity should have reached every house in every village, which has not happened till now. Even today, there are many villages in the state where electricity has not reached.
People of other states took advantage of the mineral wealth of Jharkhand and kept getting rich while the people of our state kept growing in poverty. Our government is now doing many important welfare works while finding the way for social, educational and economic development in the state.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that Azim Premji Foundation Institute is a name which is known by the whole world. Azim Premji Foundation is not known for business but for social concern. This institute is providing better education and health facilities to the people standing at the last rung of the society. This institute has a deep connection with social concerns.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the state government made a better coordination with the representatives of Azim Premji Foundation. If the institute wanted, it could have set up this project in any other state, but the CEO of the institute, Anurag Behar, has chosen Itki for the project keeping in mind the policy and commitment of the state government. Keeping in mind the needs of Azim Premji Foundation and other requirements, the state government worked to complete all the work at the government level within the stipulated time. Addressing them through virtual medium, the Chief Minister said that with the cooperation of you and your entire team, the inauguration work of construction of Azim Premji Foundation, Azim Premji University, Medical College and School has been completed in Itki. The Chief Minister said that by coordinating with the State Government and your organization, the vision of taking the Foundation forward in a remote rural area like Itki seems to be coming true. With the cooperation of you and your team, I have full confidence that this university, medical college and school to be established in Itki in the field of education and health will prove to be a milestone in the development of the state. Azim Premji Foundation will emerge as an important institution for Jharkhand. Jharkhand is a tribal, dalit and backward dominated state. I have full confidence that Azim Premji Foundation will work with a spirit of service for all these sections of the community and will play an important role in taking the state forward on the path of development.
On this occasion, Azim Premji also told the Chief Minister that the Foundation will contribute its full contribution to the development of the state by establishing better coordination with the state government. The institute will move forward step by step with you in the all-round development of the state.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that during the global pandemic Corona infection, when the situation in the country and the world kept worsening, in such a situation, a backward state like Jharkhand is taking up the task of providing relief to the people of the state and migrant laborers without any chaos under a better management. At the time of Corona infection, the state government and the general public had set a better example before the country.
The Chief Minister said that the global pandemic Corona infection has put the entire world in an economic crisis. At present, unemployment has also increased due to Corona infection. This global pandemic forced the closure of many factories in the country and the world. Who knows how many migrant laborers became homeless. Even in such an adverse situation, our government supported the migrant laborers of the state and worked to bring them back to Jharkhand through various means and also provided them employment.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that in the year 2021, when the global pandemic Corona infection had engulfed the entire world, coordination was established between the state government and Azim Premji Foundation CEO Shri Anurag Behar. We prepared an action plan for the establishment of Azim Premji University, Medical College and School from the year 2021, which seems to be taking shape.
The Chief Minister said that the thinking of our government is how we can improve the social, educational and economic development of the people here. Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that since the formation of the present state government, it has worked with commitment for the all-round development of the state. Our government has made every effort to change the education system in the state. We are converting government schools into schools of excellence on the lines of private schools in the state. In the coming days, 5000 schools of the state will be made excellent schools.
The Chief Minister said that the Guruji Credit Card Scheme is being run so that children of all sections of the community including our tribals, Dalits, farmers, minorities can now become doctors, engineers, lawyers, judges after getting educated.
Under this scheme, our government will provide financial assistance to the students studying here. The Chief Minister said that under the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Transnational Scholarship Scheme, the state government is now giving 100 percent scholarship to the children of poor families to study abroad.
All the girls studying in the schools of the state are being linked to the Savitribai Phule Samriddhi Yojana. So far, more than 9 lakh girls have been covered under this scheme. The Chief Minister told all the people present in the program that now you should not make any difference between son and daughter. Give daughters a chance to study as much as possible. The state government will provide full help to you in the education of your daughters.
