Housing Board may take action against Dhoni over Harmu property

Ranchi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has made a name for himself in the world of cricket, may soon face action over his residence in Harmu, Ranchi. The Jharkhand Housing Board is reportedly planning to inquire about his Harmu property. The issue has arisen because a board labelled “NEWBERG,” which indicates a laboratory, has been placed at the property, although it is currently covered up, creating suspicion.

Chairman of the Housing Board, Sanjay Lal Paswan, said that land was allotted to Dhoni for residential purposes only. If it is being used for commercial purposes, it would be considered illegal. Paswan confirmed that the matter has come to the board’s attention and instructed staff to investigate how the land was allotted to Dhoni. If it is found that the land is being used commercially, action will be taken. He also mentioned that the board has previously issued notices to others for similar violations.

It is important to note that the state government had allotted this plot to Dhoni in recognition of his outstanding performance with the Indian cricket team. Dhoni built a luxurious bungalow on the plot. However, there was controversy during the construction phase as Dhoni built a swimming pool, which led to protests from local residents. This was due to the water shortage in the Harmu area during the summer months.

Dhoni, who now resides in a new house in Simaliya, occasionally visits his old residence in Harmu, which still attracts a lot of attention from new visitors to the city.
