Ranchi: The Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh, organised a gratitude meeting on December 21. The meeting was attended by the party’s state In-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir as the chief guest. panchayat block presidents, mandal presidents, district presidents, MLAs, former MLAs, ICC delegates, state delegates, and former MPs were also present at the event. The meeting focused on discussing future strategies and engaging with party leaders and workers.
At the beginning of the meeting, a one-minute silence was observed in memory of late Congress leaders, including Deoband leaders, former Minister KN Jha, former State Congress General Secretary Madan Mohan Sharma, former MLA Bairagi Oraon, Parimal Mandal, Sagar Ram, and others.
During his address, Ghulam Ahmed Mir acknowledged the significant role of Congress allies in the victory in the recent Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections. He remarked that those who worked towards the victory are celebrating, while those who did not may now be reflecting on their actions. He highlighted the contribution of various social organizations and Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) partners in strengthening the foundation for victory. He further condemned the BJP’s attempts to amend the Constitution, referencing Home Minister Amit Shah’s derogatory comments against Dr BR Ambedkar, the creator of the Constitution. He also spoke about Congress’s commitment to continuing the fight against BJP until an apology is made for the remarks. Mir also discussed the political challenges Congress faces and promised that the party would not back down.
State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh thanked the workers for their dedication and commitment, even in challenging circumstances, which helped lead the party to victory. He credited the success to booth-level workers and emphasized that the focus should remain on delivering benefits to the people at the grassroots level. He stressed that the Congress organization must always prioritize the people’s issues and strengthen the party’s core beliefs.
Congress Legislative Party Leader Pradeep Yadav spoke about the two main challenges the party faces: fulfilling the expectations of the people from the government and addressing the current political situation in the country. He condemned the disrespect shown towards Dr Ambedkar and the Constitution, further emphasising the importance of fighting for the protection of constitutional values. He also criticized the government’s handling of the situation in Manipur and pledged to continue the fight for the Constitution and justice.
Campaign Committee Chairperson Subodh Kant Sahay spoke about the responsibilities of Congress workers to tackle both local and national issues. He called for unity in fighting against the dictatorship exhibited by Prime Minister Modi and emphasized the need for preparation for the 2025 elections. Manifesto Committee Chairperson Bandhu Tirkey highlighted the need for introspection within the party and stressed the importance of educating the public on constitutional values, particularly in rural areas.
The programme was conducted by Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, with a vote of thanks delivered by Media Chairman Satish Paul Muzni. Several senior Congress leaders, including All India Congress Secretary Amba Prasad, Ministers Deepika Pandey Singh, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Irfan Ansari, MLAs Rameshwar Oraon, Ramchandra Singh, Nishat Alam, Mamta Devi, Bhushan Bada, Suresh Baitha, Rajesh Thakur, Furkan Ansari, Pradeep Kumar Balmukchu, Banna Gupta, and other prominent leaders were also present at the meeting.
