Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that it has been a continuous effort of the state government to give international recognition to indigenous goods. Speaking at the inauguration of the National Khadi and Saras Festival organized at Morhabadi ground he said the purpose of organizing the National Khadi and Saras Festival is to provide a platform to the regional artisans to show “we are not less than anyone”.
When the indigenous power of the entire country will be on one platform, then only we will be able to take the products made by regional artisans to the country and abroad he said adding that local products of many states will be seen and bought in this National Khadi and Saras Festival organized at the historical Morhabadi Maidan.
Didis of women self-help groups of Jharkhand have also set up many stalls in this festival where products made from 24 districts of the state will be available for purchase. In this festival, many types of items like food and drink, cots, chairs, beds etc made by women self-help groups of rural areas and made by artisans are getting a chance to market as well as branding products.
He said that with the aim of strengthening the rural economy his government is running several important schemes. We are continuously making efforts to provide more and more employment to the people. With the National Khadi and Saras Festival, regional craftsmen and artisans are getting self-confidence and respect along with new energy the Chief Minister said adding that in the name of the National Khadi and Saras Festival itself, it seems that according to the views of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, how Khadi village industries should be promoted in the country and the state and how the scope of village industries can be given a big shape.
The Chief Minister said that it should be everyone’s effort to make maximum use of indigenous goods. If more and more people use Khadi in a country with a population of 125 crores, then unemployment will decrease in the state and the country and Khadi can be expanded in a big way.
The Chief Minister said that with time, value addition can be done in the Khadi industry also by using new technology. It is necessary to take indigenous things forward with new thinking, only then employment can be created on a large scale. He said that after a long gap of about three years, the National Khadi and Saras Festival is being organized at the historic Morhabadi ground in Ranchi.
Many festivals have been disrupted due to the global pandemic Coronavirus but now that life is slowly getting back to normal in the same sequence, this festival has been organized with new zeal and new enthusiasm. This festival is all set to enthuse the people of the state.
The Chief Minister said that everyone should enjoy this festival and play their part in strengthening the rural economy. On the occasion, the program was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Chief Minister and other distinguished guests.
The Chief Minister toured the various stalls set up in the festival and after talking to the stall operators appreciated their work and encouraged them. On this occasion, Labour Planning and Training Minister Satyanand Bhokta, Mayor Ranchi Asha Lakda, MP Sanjay Seth, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, MLA Ranchi CP Singh, Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Principal Secretary Personnel Department Vandana Dadel, Chief Minister Secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey, Rural Development Secretary Prashant Kumar and other senior officials and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
