Ranchi: The state government has decided to constitute a screening committee that will constitute the required number of teaching and non-teaching posts in the higher educational institutions of the state as per the University Grants Commission.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved a proposal in this regard. The committee would be headed by Principal Secretary of the High, Technical Education and Skill Education Department.
Director of the Higher Education would be the member secretary while two former Vice-Chancellors of the state universities, pro-VC of the concerned university, higher-ranked official than that of deputy secretary of the Personnel Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha Department, deputy director of the concerned universities and others will also be its members.
In the last seven years, the number of students in the universities and colleges of the state has almost doubled due to certain reasons the number of teaching and non-teaching posts could not increase as per the needed ratio, therefore, to remove the flaws and to provide quality higher education the screening committee has been formed to look into the creation of the posts.
An official release issued here said that many steps have been taken to improve the higher education scenario in the state as part of which in every assembly area a degree college would be set up, further efforts are on improve the basic infrastructure in the colleges and the universities, Jharkhand Open University and Tribal University are in the pipeline.
However, to realise these goals it is important that in the universities and the colleges required the number of teaching and non-teaching posts are created.
