Ranchi: In the capital’s Ratu police station area, chaos erupted in the Chhatakpur market on Friday afternoon when two criminals on a motorcycle shot the owner of Akash Jewelers, Basant Kumar. This shocking incident occurred in the middle of the market during the day, creating an atmosphere of fear in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, two young men arrived on a motorcycle near the shop and shot Basant without any confrontation. The bullet hit him directly in the left shoulder. After the incident, Basant was quickly rushed to City Hospital with the help of local people, where his condition is said to be stable.
Immediately after the incident, there was panic in the market. People showed courage and tried to chase the attackers, but they managed to flee the scene by speeding away on their bike.
Upon receiving the information, the Ratu police team reached the scene and began the investigation. Some empty cartridges were recovered from the site. The police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and trying to identify the attackers.
At present, the motive behind the attack remains unclear. The police are investigating both criminal and business rivalry angles. This incident in a busy market like Chhatakpur has raised questions about the city’s security arrangements.
