Ranchi: BJP State President and Leader of the Opposition, Babulal Marandi, has strongly criticized the Chief Minister’s foreign tour, calling it insensitive amidst the current state crisis in Jharkhand.
Marandi said that the law and order situation in the state has collapsed — with murders happening in broad daylight, the power crisis worsening — and in the middle of all this, the Chief Minister is heading off to Sweden and Spain with a large official delegation, accompanied by his MLA wife.
He questioned the intent behind the tour: “If the purpose of this foreign trip is to bring in foreign investment, then the biggest question is — why has the Industry Minister been left out? While the Secretary and Director of the Industry Department are part of the delegation, the Minister’s name is missing. Does the Minister have no role in investment discussions?”
He added that this is not the first such instance. “It’s heard that during a crucial investment meeting in Kolkata, the Industry Minister was deliberately excluded at the last moment, and Hemant Soren took others along instead.”
He also highlighted a surprising detail — that the delegation includes a retired IFS officer “well-known” across the state, suggesting controversy.
