Heavy Rain and Hailstorm Lash the City

Ranchi: The capital city witnessed a sudden change in weather on Friday. What began as a clear and sunny morning soon turned into an overcast sky followed by thunderstorms, heavy rain, and a hailstorm. Large chunks of hail pelted down, surprising residents and posing a potential threat to crops, especially for farmers in the region.

One striking incident was reported from Hundru, where a hailstone shattered a car’s windshield, though thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a Yellow Alert for the state, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several parts of Jharkhand, excluding the northwestern region. Winds were predicted to blow at speeds between 30 to 50 km/h.

IMD has also indicated that this unsettled weather pattern may continue from April 18 to April 23, with chances of occasional heavy storms, rainfall, and lightning across the state.

Residents are advised to stay indoors during stormy conditions and farmers are urged to take precautions to minimize crop damage.
