Board to be formed for Transgenders, committee also be formed at district level – Kripanand Jha

Ranchi:  A board will be formed for the upliftment of transgenders in Jharkhand.

Besides, a committee will be formed in each district under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner.

At present transgenders have been given OBC-II status and the department is preparing an integrated plan for their upliftment.

The above information was given by Shri Kripanand Jha, Secretary, Women, Child Development and Social Security Department, in a press conference in the conference hall of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

Secretary of Women, Child Development and Social Security Department, Shri Kripanand Jha said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, work is being done under social security at various levels in the direction of social upliftment at the departmental level.

Giving detailed information about the schemes of the department, he said that a total of nine schemes are being run in the state under the Sarvajan Pension Scheme, out of which three schemes are centrally sponsored and 6 schemes are being run by the state government.

He said that the government has made a separate arrangement for a revolving fund of Rs 100 crore so that the pensioners can get timely benefits.

An increase of 82 percent has been recorded in the pensioners of the state in four years.

In 2023, a total of more than 6 lakh 56 thousand pension applications have been received under the Aapki Adhikar, Aapki Sarkar, Aapki Dwar program.

The departmental secretary said that under the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana in the state, to encourage the girls who are dropping out due to some reason and to make them educated, so far 6 lakh 21 thousand beneficiaries have been covered under the scheme in 2023-24.

Whereas in the last 2022-23, more than 7 lakh 28 thousand girls and adolescent girls were benefited.

Shri Kripanand Jha said that out of total 378 thousand 432 Anganwadi centers in the state, 6850 centers will be developed as capable Anganwadi centres.

Besides, smart mobiles will be provided to more than 29 thousand maids. He informed that the department plans to construct buildings of more than 10 thousand Anganwadi centers under DMFT/CSR fund.

Besides, facilities like LPG cylinder, water purifier and smart TV will be provided in the centres.

Regarding honorarium, he said that it has been fixed at Rs 9500 per month for Anganwadi maids and Rs 4750 per month for assistants.

Apart from this, provision has also been made to increase honorarium by Rs 500 and Rs 250 respectively every year.

The retirement age of maids and assistants has been increased to 62 years.

Along with providing facilities to the maids and assistants, efforts are also being made by the department to make the services provided in the centers more effective.

The government has started the scheme for distribution of maternal kits.

Besides this, sanitary napkins will also be distributed.

The department is also performing better for women’s welfare.

A financial amount of Rs 2 lakh will be provided by the government for widow remarriage in the state.

Also, in the current financial year, financial assistance has been provided to 11 thousand 880 girls on marriage.

Action is being taken to start the scheme soon to benefit 6 lakh pregnant women in the state.

Under child welfare, sponsorship of Rs 4,000 per child is being provided for the protection and care of children living in adverse conditions.

Till now this benefit has been given to 4 thousand 497 children.

The Juvenile Justice Board, created to deal with the cases of children involved in violation of law, has been increased to 26, so that proper and speedy disposal of such cases can be done.

For children in conflict with law, there is a plan to construct a place of septic with 50 beds in Ranchi district for Rs. 1107.23 lakh.

Under this, there is a plan to build three such homes in three districts of the state, Dumka, Palamu and Latehar, which will have old age homes and children’s homes in the same campus.
