Babulal Marandi is a big tribal leader of Jharkhand.

After separating from BJP, by forming Jharkhand Vikas Morcha on his own, he posed a big challenge to BJP and other parties of the state in the elections and showed how much his face value is in Jharkhand.

He returned to BJP in 2020 after 14 years. In July 2023, he was made the state president of the party and the very next month he set out on the Sankalp Yatra.

The purpose of Sankalp Yatra is to send a message to the public that the reins of BJP are now with a big tribal leader in the state.

BJP hopes that this yatra will bring back BJP in 28 tribal reserved assembly seats of the state.

Babulal Marandi mainly targeted the state government, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his family, state ministers and officers in his meetings during the Sankalp Yatra, but Babulal’s main target was Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

He kept raising issues like allegations of land scam against the Chief Minister, land purchased in the state in violation of the CNT-SPT Act, mining scam of Sahibganj, repeated ED summons to the Chief Minister in every meeting.

Babulal Marandi also took the names of the Chief Minister, the government and officials accused of corruption during the Sankalya Yatra.

Also made the public resolve to remove the Hemant government from power. How successful this journey of Babulal will be known only after the results of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
