Ranchi/Chaibasa: Fifteen Maoists of banned Maoist organisation including Naxalite Patiram Manjhi with a reward of Rs 1 crore and a minor troubled by the exploitation of Misir Besra, surrendered.
During the program organized at Chaibasa Police Line on Thursday, all the Naxalites surrendered before DIG Manoj Ratan , DC Kuldeep Chaudhary and SP Ashutosh Shekhar. The 14 Naxalites who surrendered have criminal history. Cases are registered against them in different police stations of Chaibasa district. The Maoists who surrendered are – Pradhan Koda facing eight cases, Chandromohan facing Seven, Pagla Gop, Vijay Boyapai, Ganga Ram Purti, Boyo Koda, Jogen Koda, Pelong Koda, Ramja Purti, Sohan Singh, Sushil Doreen Champia, Sonu Champia, Money Champia, Moga Champiya and minor Naxalite.
A continuous campaign is being conducted against Naxalites in Chaibasa district from the year 2022. Since 2022, a total of 161 Naxalites have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. A total of 11 Naxalites surrendered before
the police in the years 2022 and 2023. A total of 375 explosives, weapons, cartridges and other items of daily use were recovered from them in huge uantity. Along with this, the permanent camp of Naxalites, ERB headquarters, 08-10 temporary camps and 15 bunkers were demolished.
To curb the extremist activities in Chaibasa, 16 new security camps have also been created to maintain the sense of security created in the minds of the common people in the insurgency affected police station area.
Campaign against Naxalites has been going on in the forests of Kolhan for the last two years. For the last two years, a campaign against Naxalites is being conducted in Kolhan forest. After reeing Budha Pahad, Bulbul Jungle, Khunti, Chaibasa and tri-junction area of Seraikela- Kharsawan from Naxalites, the focus of security forces is on Saranda area of West Singhbhum.
