Sanjay Seth raises question over plans of sports development in Jharkhand in Lok Sabha

Ranchi: Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth raised questions regarding the plans of the Union Sports Ministry for development of various sporting disciplines including athletics, football and archery.

Replying to the question of the MP, Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Kiran Rijuju said that under the Khelo India scheme the Sports Authority of India during the year 2016-17 gave Rs 2.07 crore to Hazaribagh center for developing hockey and football grounds and in the year 2017-18 Rs 3.22 crore was given.

He said that as part of the promotion of the sports and nurturing of the athletes was concerned apart from the improvement in the training facilities the sportsperson are being also provided modern equipment, special coaches, good food and accommodation along with proper kits and medical facilities,

He said that jobs under sports quota is being provided on the basis of fulfillment of pre-decided conditions and not on the basis of economic conditions.
