Work towards freeing children from malnutrition-Secretary

Ranchi: Kripanand Jha, Secretary, Women, Child Development and Women Safety said that the children are the future of the family, state and country. He said “ Protecting children from malnutrition is the priority of the state government. The department is working with full promptness, alertness and commitment to save children from malnutrition. 

The state has to work towards eliminating malnutrition at all costs. Provide quality nutritious food to children in Anganwadi centers of the state. Implement with commitment all the schemes run by the department for the physical and mental development of children. Survey and identify malnourished children and women suffering from anemia in the state and health workers should prepare data by getting them medically checked”. 

He was speaking in the meeting of the State Monitoring and Implementation Committee at the Project Bhawan Complex Auditorium of the Women, Child Development and Social Security Department on Tuesday.

Director General of Jharkhand State Nutrition Mission, Mrs. Rajeshwari B directed the officials of the department to accelerate the work progress of the Summer Campaign Scheme. In the meeting, the departmental secretary informed that a summer campaign will be run in seven other districts. Through this campaign, a mechanism is being ensured to provide services in a timely manner, and to create solid and intensive monitoring and intervention infrastructure. 

In the meeting, Director General State Nutrition Mission reviewed the status of weight measurement of children registered in all Anganwadi centers district wise and gave necessary guidelines. Said, all children registered in Anganwadi centers should be weighed and malnourished/severely malnourished children should be admitted to MTC. In the meeting, detailed discussion was held on IC for successful implementation of the scheme.

The Secretary said that the scheme should be implemented strongly in the state by publicizing it. In the meeting, the MNREGA Commissioner reviewed the status of measurement of weight of children registered in all Anganwadi centers project wise and also gave necessary guidelines. 

MNREGA Commissioner said that all children registered in Anganwadi centers should be weighed and malnourished/severely malnourished children should be admitted to MTC. 

In the meeting, Director General of Jharkhand State Nutrition Mission, Mrs. Rajeshwari B, Deputy Secretary, Jharkhand State Nutrition Mission, Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, representatives of Health Department, representatives of UNICEF, Information and Public Relations Department, Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society, District Social Welfare Officer. And civil surgical officer were present.
