Women of our country are playing an important role in progress of every field: Governor

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan said that the history of the country is full of women who have set records in various fields and walks of life. Addressing a program Women in Eastern India Economic Empowerment and Role of Women Groups he said that the women of the country are playing an important role in every field of progress and are making a name for themselves in the country and abroad with their remarkable contribution.

He said that even in our ancient civilization and culture, there was a lot of respect and honour for women.

Women have always been the backbone of the social, cultural and educational ethos system he said that it is absolutely necessary for both men and women to be empowered for overall development. 

The Governor said that at present, beautifying the post of President of the country by Draupadi Murmu who has also been the Governor of Jharkhand State and is in the heart of the people here, presents a supreme example of women empowerment in our country.

He said that education is a powerful means of empowerment of the individual that is why every girl child should get proper education. He said that if a boy gets education, he alone gets educated, but if a girl in a family gets education, the whole family benefits. ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana’ is important for the eradication of gender discrimination and improvement in girl education by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the direction of women empowerment.

He said that it is a matter of joy that the overall condition of women is improving. They are conscious and active in getting education and are moving towards social and economic development. Women’s awareness is an auspicious sign for our country and society. The Governor said that women empowerment is a global issue.

The development of society or nation depends on the socio-economic status of women. He said that women’s groups have played an important role in promoting gender equality and women empowerment. Apart from this, Self Help Groups also play an important role in promoting economic development. The work of promoting women’s empowerment, social unity and economic development is being done through self-help groups.

Self-help groups have had a significant impact on women’s empowerment and economic development in Jharkhand. Dr Joseph M Kujur, Director, Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Dr Aparajita Gogoi, Executive Director, Center for Catalyzing Change (C3), Prof Ishita Mukhopadhyay, President, The Indian Association for Women’s Studies (IAWS), etc also spoke on the occasion.
