Winter Session:75 percent reservation for local youths in private jobs to come into effect from January

Ranchi: The rule of providing 75 percent jobs to local youths of Jharkhand in private companies of the state would come into effect from January 2023. Labour Minister Satyanand Bhokta in response to a question raised during the ongoing winter session of the Jharkhand Assembly informed the house.

A question in this regard was raised by MLAs Pradeep Yadav and Sudivya Kumar. They said that this law is a boon for the local unemployed, however, they will not get employment if the law is not strictly implemented. Pradeep Yadav said that this law was made in the year 2021 and in September 2022 it has been notified.

He said that in the law there was a provision that all the recruiters should get themselves registered with the Labour Department within 30 days. He said that it has been more than three months but only 404 companies have registered themselves.

The MLA sought answers from the court over why the government was adopting a negligent role as if the law is not strictly implemented then the future of the youth will be severely impacted. He went on to claim that companies from outside are getting their own people to get jobs here and the government cannot ask the companies to remove their already working employees and give jobs to the youth therefore the law needed to be strictly enforced.

JMM’s Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar said that in Giridih less than 100 companies have registered. He pointed out that in the law there is also a provision that in three months registration of all employees of the company should be done.

The Minister on his part said that so far the portal has not been prepared and when it will be ready it will be made public and process of registration of companies will also increase on which Pradeep Yadav asked that if the portal is not ready how come 404 companies got registered on which the minister said that it has been done on the initiative of the department.

Intervening in between Speaker Ravindranath Mahto said that it appears the minister is not getting the desired cooperation of the department officials. He said that it is for him to see how the youth of the state can get jobs here and soon the issue should be sorted out.
