Urban Development Minister reviews construction of smart roads in capital

Ranchi: Urban Development Minister CP Singh has instructed that the quality of the material being used for the construction of smart roads in the capital should be e examined on a regular basis and the officials should also monitor the works being executed by the construction company.

Reviewing the construction of a smart road in the capital with the senior officials he said that during the construction it should be ensured that to put up any kind of cable the road should not be cut and the utility duct should also not be broken. He said that before doing plastering over the utility that its cleanliness should be in short and after examining the level of the flow of water in the drains then only the cover should be put up.

Mr Singh also directed that post the construction of the smart road electric cables should not be witnessed hanging and it should be also ensured that less number of trees are cut. The Minister also said that trees should be planted on both sides of the road so that it in future people those who walk on the footpath or on the bicycle lane get shade and even the environment is maintained. During the review, the officials of the JUDCO through a Power Point Presentation should the shape of the smart road and its advantages and the various features and also briefed the Minister regarding the material being used in its construction.

In the state capital under the Smart City Mission from the state fund for smart roads are being constructed from airport to Birsa Chowk, from Birsa Chowk to Raj Bhavan, from Raj Bhavan to Booty mode and from Raj Bhavan to Kantatoli via Circular Road. On the side of these roads arrangements of drainage water supply pipeline, Optical Fibre and utility duct for electric wire is being constructed and all these facilities would be underground and only the street light would be visible while other electrical cables would be underground. Apart from that next to the road, there would be a bicycle land, footpath and also bus stops at various points.
