Two trucks full of opium husk worth Rs 1.20 crore seized by Ranchi Police

Ranchi: Two trucks carrying opium husk were seized on Tuesday from BIT Mesra OP of the state capital.

However, the driver and cleaner of both the vehicles managed to flee from the spot.

Police said that tip-off had been received that in a big truck and a mini truck some suspicious items were being loaded on the ring road. Upon the information, a police team that reached on the spot found the vehicles were full of opium husk.

In the big truck, 34 sacks of opium husks were loaded while the mini-truck was filled with 30 sacks. Overall 1,260 kilograms of opium husk were recovered from the two vehicles whose cost in the market was estimated to be around Rs 1.20 crore. Police suspected that opium husk was meant to be smuggled to Rajasthan.
