Ranchi: The state government has decided to launch its own food security scheme.
An official release issued here said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given his approval to the proposal to provide 15 lakh beneficiaries who are not covered under the National Food Security Act 2013, foodgrains on subsidized rate.
A proposal in this regard would also be brought in the next cabinet meeting for approval. It has been also proposed that this scheme would be named as Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme.
Under the scheme, all the beneficiaries will be provided five kilograms of foodgrains every month at the rate of Rs 1 per kilogram. The families which would be covered under the scheme, district wise would be based on the census of the year 2011.
