Two Maoists arrested by Ranchi police alongwith Rs 25 lakh in levy

Ranchi, Aug 31: In a major success for the Ranchi police two hardcore ultras of the CPI (Maoists) were arrested from Chutia Police Station area of this state capital alongwith Rs 25 lakh in cash and half kilogram of gold.

Addressing a press conference here today Ranchi SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi said that the arrested have been identified as B Narayan and Satyanarayan. He said that Narayan was the younger brother of wanted maoist Sudhakar and the money and the gold was being sent to his house. The SSP said that the money had been collected as levy by the organization.

Mr Dwivedi said that police had received a secret tip off regarding the movement of the Maoists who were supposed to catch a train from Ranchi. Following the input search drives were conducted in many areas and the duo were nabbed last evening from Patel Chowk under Chutia Police Station area.

The SSP said that the duo have confessed of taking huge amount of money on several other occasions but this was the first time that they have been nabbed. The SSP said that both of them would be taken on police remand.
