Ranchi: Police has arrested two criminals who had fired upon a sub-inspector and recovered a two wheeler, a firearm and more than 30 chains from them.
Addressing a press conference here Ranchi SSP Surendra Kumar Jha said that special team of the Ranchi police arrested both the criminals within 12 hours of the incident. The arrested have been identified as Imroz Ansari of Millat Colony and Taukid Malik alias Sekhu of Idris Colony Gadhatoli.
He said that a special team undercity DSP Amit Kumar Singh was constituted which conducted raids throughout the night and arrested the two criminals and also recovered the Scooty and a firearm which was used to execute the crime. He said that apart from Ranchi cases are also registered against them in Gumla and Lohardaga district. The SP said that both of them are professional chain snatchers and have executed more than 30 incidents of chain snatching in Ranchi.
He said that more than 30 chains, cash and other objectionable items have been recovered from them.
On the other hand, Health Minister Banna Gupta on Friday visited the Medica hospital and interacted with Sub Inspector Subhash Chandra Lakra who is undergoing treatment at the hospital. He also felicitated the police officer for his bravery and gave an award of Rs 5,000 and a shawl.
On Thursday the sub inspector was shot by these two criminals as he was trying to catch them. The sub inspector had sustained bullet injuries in his thigh and later the police man was taken to Medica hospital where doctors performed operation and took out the cartridge and currently is condition was stated to be out of danger.
