Jamtara: Hundreds of tribals on Sunday disrupted the train traffic movement on the New Delhi-Howrah rail route at Kashiyatand halt under Karmatand rail section of this district in support of their various demands.
On the direction of former MP and JD-U leader Salkhan Murmu the agitation was carried out in which the tribals stopped the train movement on the track for more than half an hour and also indulged in slogan shouting in support of their demands.
Convener of Adivasi Sengeal Abhiyaan for Santhal Pargana Sikandar Tudu said that without the approval of the Governor Hemant Soren government has sent the proposal of sarna religious code to the centre on the other hand the centre has also not take any step in this direction and all these acts were aimed at misleading the tribals.
In wake of the agitation apart from jawans the RPF police personnel from Jamtara Narayanpur and Karmatand police stations were also deputed on the spot. The officials somehow managed to persuade the agitators to call off their agitation and get away from the railway tracks after half an hour.
The people were demanding implementation of Sarna religious code, liquor ban in Jharkhand and implementation of domicile policy which should be based on the khatiyan of 1932.
