Tribal outfits to stage Mahadharna in Delhi on November 11 over Sarna Code

Ranchi: On November 11 a Mahadharna will be organized at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar regarding the tribal- Sarna religion code. In this Sarna religious followers from all the states and from every corner of the country will be participating.

On the second day on November 12, a representative meeting will also be organized in Delhi. This decision was taken on Sunday in the meeting of the National Tribal Society Sarna Dharma Raksha Abhiyaan.

It was said in the meeting that on November 11, 2020, the religion code resolution was passed by the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly therefore it has been decided to celebrate this day as Dharma Code Day. In the meeting, ancestral property inheritance and marriage of tribal women to non tribals were discussed.

Along with this, there was also a deep discussion over relation to social prestige and other benefits. It was decided that the tradition prevailing in the society is in the interest of the tribal society. Women of the above category for the post of chief, MLA and MP etc should be debarred from contesting elections on seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes.

A demand letter will be submitted to the state government and the governor regarding this. In the meeting, it was decided to publish a half-yearly magazine at the national level. This article related to the practiced traditional customs religion-karma and social and cultural specificity of the entire society will be published.

Educationist Dr Karma Oraon presided over the meeting. Soma Munda, Sukra Tirkey, Madho Kachhap, Ravi Tigga, Narayan Oraon, Mahadev Toppo, Balku Oraon, Amrita Munda, Suko Oraon, Anita Toppo, Budhuva Oraon, Bahura Oraon, Poto Tirkey, Samel Toppo, Dharmu Oraon, Bhunu Oraon, Dev Sahai Munda, Sudhir Oraon, Pariba Tirkey were present in the meeting.
