Trade unions’ strike affects bank and post office service in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Works at banks, post offices, PSUs remained affected in the Jharkhand capital as a two-day nationwide general strike called by Central Trade Unions against the ‘anti-people’ policies of the central government began on Monday.

Under the banner of the Communist Party of India, All India Kisan Sabha, a procession was taken out from the CPI State Office in support of the strike.

Former MP and state secretary of CPI Bhubaneswar Prasad Mehta said that the Modi government at the Centre has completely failed to check inflation. He said that the farmers are feeling cheated. He alleged the Modi government to be pro-capitalists and anti-people.

The RJD supported the strike saying that the people of the country are suffering due to the anti-poor policies of the Central Government. Sources in the colliery informed that production of coal remained normal while load work got affected. At HEC five sustained injuries in order to defy the bandh. An FIR was registered in this connection at Dhurwa police station.

However normal life remained unaffected in the state due to the Bandh as buses kept operating on their routes while shops and business establishments also remained opened. Works in private offices, schools and colleges remained normal.
