Timely central support can make Jharkhand a model state: Radhakrishna Kishore

Ranchi: On the occasion of Jharkhand’s 25th foundation day, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore addressed the gathering at Morhabadi Ground, highlighting the need for timely support from the central government to accelerate the state’s development.

Kishore noted that while the state’s budget has grown from Rs 670 crore at the time of Jharkhand’s formation to Rs 1,45,400 crore today, delays in central assistance have slowed progress. He pointed out that revenue growth has reached 9.4 percent, yet several key dues from the Centre remain unpaid, including the state’s share from coal companies, currently amounting to Rs 1,36,000 crore, and funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

“If the Centre releases Jharkhand’s rightful share and grants on time, the state can achieve rapid development and become a model state,” he said, adding that these allocations are not discretionary but constitutional entitlements.

Before discussing financial matters, Kishore paid tribute to all the martyrs of Jharkhand, stating, “The Hemant Soren government is committed to the welfare of tribal communities and the state’s overall development.”
