Speaker pays tribute to Birsa Munda on 150th birth anniversary

Ranchi: On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda, Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahto paid homage by laying a wreath at the statue of the revered leader within the Assembly premises.

Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker extended his greetings to the people of Jharkhand on the state’s foundation day and Birsa Munda Jayanti. He emphasized that the nation, including Jharkhand, remains deeply grateful to Birsa Munda, who inspired the struggle for freedom and stood against exploitation during colonial India.

He recalled that Birsa Munda motivated people to fight for independence and their rights at a time when oppression under British rule was widespread. Through his visionary leadership, he directed the tribal movement and sounded the call of revolt against colonial authorities.

“Birsa Munda’s foresight was not only inspirational during the freedom struggle but also laid the foundation for the creation of Jharkhand state. His ideals continue to guide us,” Mahto said.

He added that on Jharkhand’s silver jubilee, the state’s youth remember Birsa Munda with deep respect and pride for his enduring contribution to the state and the nation.
