Jharkhand pavilion steals the show on Birsa Munda Jayanti at 44th India International Trade Fair

Ranchi: The 44th India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan witnessed a vibrant celebration of Jharkhand’s 25th Foundation Day and the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda on its second day, with the spotlight firmly on the Jharkhand pavilion.

A special ceremony was organized at the pavilion, drawing large crowds who enjoyed traditional performances and paid homage to Birsa Munda. A floral tribute was offered at his statue, and cultural programs highlighted Jharkhand’s rich heritage and traditions. The celebrations were also mirrored at the Jharkhand Bhawan in Delhi, where officials and visitors joined in commemorating the occasion.

Birsa Munda, born on November 15 in Khunti, Jharkhand, was a prominent tribal leader of the 19th century who spearheaded the ‘Ulgulan’ rebellion, inspiring his community to fight against British exploitation. He is revered as a deity in Jharkhand, and his contributions to tribal rights and freedom continue to inspire generations.

Speaking at the event, Jharkhand Industry Director Vishal Sagar said, “Today is a proud day for Jharkhand. We are celebrating not just Birsa Munda Jayanti but also the 25th anniversary of Jharkhand’s establishment as a state in 2000. Marking this milestone at an international trade fair in Delhi gives us immense pride and joy.”

Senior officials, including JAIDA Managing Director Varun Ranjan and Jharkhand Agriculture Director Bhor Singh Yadav, were also present at the celebrations. The event highlighted Jharkhand’s cultural identity, economic potential, and the ongoing efforts to promote the state’s heritage on national and international platforms.
