Ranchi: Many organizations showed their strength in the capital as part of Adivasi Bachao Maharally on Sunday. Leaders of the Tribal organizations gathered in large numbers at Morhabadi Maidan and demanded for implementation of their rights, CNT, SPT, PESA Act and Sarna code.
Addressing the thousands of people who participated in the rally, former minister Geetashree Oraon said that in spite of getting the status of the fifth schedule as well as the tribal chief minister and even the president being tribal, it is unfortunate that all the laws and drafts made in the interest of tribals are not in their hands. She despite having tribal chief ministers for 18 years the community have to face this plight today.
She said that the BJP also does not want the tribals to be benefited and even the present government too is not working in the interest of the tribals. Tribal leader Prem Sahi Munda said that today we are making a Ulgulan with this rally as the tribals have not achieved anything without struggle till date. Be it the movement for CNT, SPT Act, whether it is the movement for implementation of PESA Act or Sarna Code tribals have been agitating and will continue to agitate until they get their rights.
He said the community are also opposing the conspiracy being hatched to make Kurmis as tribal. He said that the people of the tribal society do the work of the labour class but also protect the water, forests protect the land, but some leaders and brokers along are working at the behest of people who are surrounded by mafia elements against the tribals. Former minister Dev Kumar Dhan said that 32 social organization leaders have been called here and through this program they are blowing a bugle.
He said that be it the central government or the state government or any party, JMM, Congress or BJP will work to brings the law against the tribals they will have to face consequences. He said that there have been so many tribal chief ministers, from Shibu Soren to Arjun Munda, Babulal Marandi, Madhu Koda or Hemant Soren, none of the governments worked for tribal interests.
Today the government takes out the 1932 Khatian Yatra which is a misleading topic as government opposes in the assembly and also brings the law. Dhan said that till now the government has not been able to make local policy and planning policy, whereas 3.5 years are about to be completed.
