New Delhi – Tata Motors reported a 9 per cent year-on-year decline in global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), for the first quarter of FY26. The company sold 2,99,664 units during the April–June 2025 period, compared to 3,29,847 units in Q1 FY25, according to a stock exchange filing on Tuesday.
Segment-wise Breakdown:
- Commercial Vehicles:
Global wholesales of Tata Motors’ commercial vehicles, including the Tata Daewoo range, stood at 87,569 units, down 6 per cent from the same period last year. - Passenger Vehicles (Tata Motors):
Worldwide sales fell 10 per cent, with 1,24,809 units sold in Q1 FY26 compared to Q1 FY25. - Jaguar Land Rover (JLR):
JLR’s global sales declined by 11 per cent, totaling 87,286 units. Of this:- Jaguar accounted for 2,339 units
- Land Rover contributed 84,947 units
Meanwhile, Tata Motors’ total sales for the April–June quarter also fell by 8.47 per cent, dropping to 2,10,415 units from 2,29,891 units a year earlier.
Domestic Market Performance:
- Passenger Vehicles (India):
Domestic sales declined 10 per cent YoY to 1,24,809 units. - Commercial Vehicles (India):
Domestic commercial vehicle sales dropped 6 per cent to 85,606 units.
In June 2025 alone, Tata Motors’ domestic sales were down 12 per cent compared to June 2024.
However, not all the news was negative. The company’s international commercial vehicle business saw a sharp growth of 68 per cent, offering a bright spot in an otherwise subdued quarter.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Sales:
- Tata Motors sold 16,231 electric vehicles in Q1 FY26.
- While total passenger vehicle sales were down 10 per cent year-on-year, EV sales showed signs of recovery toward the end of the quarter.
