Mumbai – Fans of the espionage thriller Special Ops will have to wait a bit longer for its much-anticipated second season. Originally set to release on July 11 exclusively on JioHotstar, the premiere has now been postponed to July 18. The makers have not disclosed the reason for the delay.
Season 2 sees Kay Kay Menon reprising his acclaimed role as the razor-sharp R&AW officer Himmat Singh, who once again leads his elite team—this time into a silent war waged in the digital realm. As cyber-attacks threaten national security, Himmat must navigate a battlefield that exists in the shadows.
Speaking about the new season, Menon said:
“Himmat Singh has never been a conventional hero. He doesn’t seek glory—he bears responsibilities. This season, the battles are quieter but far more dangerous, and the weight of every decision is immense. As an actor, portraying Himmat challenges me deeply—both emotionally and intellectually. I hope viewers feel the depth and intensity we’ve poured into this season.”
Directed by Shivam Nair, the upcoming season features a powerhouse ensemble cast, including Prakash Raj, Vinay Pathak, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Karan Tacker, Saiyami Kher, Muzammil Ibrahim, Gautami Kapoor, Parmeet Sethi, and Kali Prasad Mukherjee, among others.
Tahir Raj Bhasin, who plays the primary antagonist in the new season, recently spoke about his experience working with Kay Kay Menon.
“Sharing screen space with Kay Kay sir is both an honour and a challenge. I’ve admired his performances for years—whether as a hero or a villain. His portrayal of Himmat Singh, with that sharp wit and stoic intensity, has become iconic. I tried to bring a calm confidence and clever edge to my role to match that energy and raise the stakes in the narrative,” Bhasin said.
Special Ops 2 is set to deliver another gripping chapter of high-stakes espionage and digital warfare, when it premieres on July 18 on JioHotstar.
