Ranchi, Apr 19: More than 200 students belonging to the Garhwa dental college gheraoed the house of Jharkhand’s Welfare Minister Louis Marandi here located on Ratu Road demanding scholarship.
Due to gate blocked by the students who sat on an agitation outside the house, the staff at the house of the ministers were straned inside the house. Later an information in this regard was provided to police after which a team from Sukhdeo Nagar Police Station reached at the spot.
However during the agitation none of the officials of the welfare department came at the spot. The students called off teh agitation after secretary of the welfare department spoke with them over phone and asked them to meet the minister on April 23.
The students who had left from Garhwa on Tuesday Night reached Ranchi on Wednesday morning. They alleged that the tan welfare secretary Rajeev Arun Ekka had ordered that all the students would get the scholarships as per the old rules which was later stopped.
