Ranchi: The Director General and Inspector General of Police honoured members of the state police force on Thursday for their commendable performance at the First All India Police Badminton and Table Tennis Cluster 2024–25. The event, organized by Kerala Police, was held in Kochi from April 11 to 15, 2025, and saw participation from 43 teams representing various state police departments and central police organizations across the country.
Representing Jharkhand, a team of 23 players participated in badminton and 8 in table tennis. The team was led by Mr. Shailendra Kumar Sinha, Director of the Jharkhand Police Academy in Hazaribagh, who served as the team manager. The contingent returned with a total of five bronze medals in table tennis, marking a proud achievement for the state police.
Among the winners was A. Vijayalakshmi, Inspector General of Police (Training), who secured a bronze medal in the G.O. Women’s Singles category. She, along with Anuranjan Kispotta, Deputy Inspector General (Special Branch), also earned bronze medals in the G.O. Mixed Doubles category. In the N.G.O. Men’s Doubles event, Ajay Bhan Thapa, Sub-Inspector, and Pankaj Rai, Constable, each won a bronze medal, contributing further to the team’s success.
In recognition of their achievements, the Director General of Police felicitated the winners at a special ceremony held at his office. He congratulated the athletes and presented them with their medals, commending their dedication and the pride they brought to the department. Shailendra Kumar Sinha was also present during the ceremony.
This accomplishment highlights the commitment of Jharkhand Police not only to law enforcement but also to promoting fitness and sportsmanship within the force, setting a benchmark for excellence at the national level.
