Ranchi: Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh launched a fierce attack on the BJP upon his return from Patna, where he had participated in the Voter Adhikar Rally. Addressing the media, Kamlesh alleged that the BJP, having reached power through “vote theft”, is now openly attempting to dismantle constitutional democracy in India.
He claimed that the massive public turnout at the Patna rally proves that political change in Bihar is imminent. According to him, voters have understood that under BJP’s influence, even the Election Commission is complicit in attempts to suppress their electoral rights. “The people are uniting under the Mahagathbandhan to protect their right to vote,” he said.
Highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s recent exposé on alleged electoral fraud in a single assembly constituency, Kamlesh described it as an “atomic bomb” that has revealed the BJP’s “theft machinery.” He added that if this was just the beginning, more revelations could have the effect of a “hydrogen bomb” and expose the full extent of BJP’s wrongdoing.
Kamlesh accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of orchestrating a systematic assault not just on opposition parties, but on the people’s rights and constitutional institutions. “This is a direct attack on voters’ rights, freedom of expression, and the democratic process of electing representatives. The Election Commission is no longer an independent body, but a partner in this conspiracy,” he alleged.
Praising the awareness and political maturity of Bihar’s electorate, Kamlesh said the state has a history of democratic struggle and is once again ready to lead a nationwide movement to reclaim democracy. “Just like in Jharkhand, a wave of change will rise from Bihar and spread across all BJP-ruled states,” he declared.
Accusing the BJP-led Centre of misusing constitutional bodies, he said Modi is using all possible means – including saam, daam, dand, bhed – to topple non-BJP governments and install his own party through undemocratic means.
Kamlesh warned that voter name deletions are just the beginning. “Next, names will be erased from ration cards. There will be theft of democracy, of reservations, education, jobs, and the future of youth,” he said. He alleged that the central government is depriving the public of basic amenities while enriching big corporates.
Concluding his remarks, Kamlesh assured that the Congress will continue its fight to protect the people’s rights and uphold democratic values across the nation.
