DGP reviews security for Karma, Eid-e-Milad, Ganesh Chaturthi

Ranchi: In view of upcoming festivals including Karma Puja, Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi and Ganesh Chaturthi, Jharkhand Director General of Police Anurag Gupta held a high-level security review meeting at the state police headquarters. The meeting was attended by senior police officials including IG Special Branch Prabhat Kumar, IG Operations Dr. Michael Raj S., IG STF Anup Birthare, DIG Special Branch Shailendra Kumar Barnwal, and SP Operations Amit Renu. All regional IGs, DIGs and district-level police chiefs joined the meeting either in person or via video conferencing.

The DGP reviewed law and order preparations across all districts and laid emphasis on preventive action against miscreants. He directed district police to physically verify procession routes, deploy magistrates and adequate forces, and ensure surveillance through CCTV and drones. Special focus is being given to sensitive areas with orders for Quick Response Teams to be stationed along major routes. Drone-based aerial monitoring and plainclothes deployment at vulnerable spots were also discussed.

District SPs briefed the DGP on ongoing coordination with religious and community leaders, especially akhara committees, to address ground-level concerns related to processions and immersions. The police force has also been asked to maintain strict watch over social media to curb misinformation or communal content. Riot control vehicles, anti-riot drills, and public address systems are being readied for quick deployment, while instructions have been given to regulate provocative music and DJ systems during festivities.

The DGP instructed all districts, especially those with a history of communal tension, to remain on high alert. He also stressed enhanced safety measures at religious sites and immersion points, and asked district control rooms to remain fully active. Special attention has also been directed towards ensuring the safety of women during the festive period.
