In response to the scorching summer heat and as per the state government’s instructions, the Ramgarh district administration has started an extensive drive to ensure smooth water supply in both rural and urban areas. A dedicated district task force has been set up to oversee repair and maintenance work of water supply systems on a regular basis.
To address water-related issues quickly, a Special Water Fortnight Campaign is being conducted from May 2 to May 15, 2026. During the campaign, 132 water supply sources have already been repaired, including 100 hand pumps, 28 water towers, one water tanker, and three additional water supply schemes.
For urban water management, the Ramgarh Municipal Council has been designated as the implementing agency. The administration has approved Rs 23.38 lakh from the DMFT fund for the repair of 19 water towers. Similarly, Rs 92.27 lakh has been sanctioned for repairing 626 hand pumps in rural areas.
Deputy Commissioner Rituraj urged village representatives, mukhiyas, and local leaders to cooperate with the administration by reporting water supply problems from their respective areas. He emphasized that public participation would help the administration resolve issues at a faster pace.
According to officials, 287 hand pumps and 166 water towers have been identified for repair during the campaign. Repairs of 100 hand pumps and 28 water towers have already been completed, while work on the remaining facilities is in progress. So far, camps have been organized in 45 panchayats and eight municipal wards across the district.
