Jamshedpur: Several trains operating under the South Eastern Railway network are expected to face delays from May 12 to 16 because of non-interlocking (NI) work at Rupsa Yard in the Kharagpur division.
The railway upgrade work, focused on improving signalling and track systems, will affect the movement of many long-distance trains travelling through the Chakradharpur division, including Rajdhani and Express trains.
According to railway officials, the project is part of efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve safety and operational efficiency across the route.
Among the affected trains, the Anand Vihar Terminal–Puri Neelachal Express on May 12 is expected to depart about 90 minutes late. The Bhubaneswar–New Delhi Rajdhani Express on May 14 and 15 may leave nearly an hour behind schedule, while the New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express on May 16 is likely to start its journey around two hours late.
Passengers travelling through major stations such as Tatanagar, Chakradharpur and Rajkharsawan may also experience delays and longer waiting periods.
Considering the heavy rush during the summer vacation and wedding season, railway authorities have advised travellers to stay updated about train schedules before leaving for the station.
Passengers can track live updates through the NTES app and Railway Helpline 139. Railway stations will also make regular announcements regarding revised timings and delays.
Officials added that although passengers may face temporary inconvenience, the upgrade work will help improve train movement and enhance passenger safety in the long run.
