Ranchi: The investigation into the case of the matric exam paper leak in Jharkhand will be conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The proposal prepared by the School Education and Literacy Department has been approved by the Education Minister, Ramdas Soren. Following this, the department has sent the proposal for the formation of the SIT to the Home Department.
In connection with the case, Koderma police detained three suspicious students from a coaching institute in the Sihodih area of the Mufassil police station region late on Saturday night. All the detained students are reported to be from Giridih. The three students are believed to be enrolled at a coaching institute in Sihodih. Ongoing investigations across Koderma, Giridih, East Singhbhum, and Garhwa districts have led to the detention of several individuals. As of now, more than a dozen people, including coaching operators, teachers, and exam candidates, have been detained.
Some of the accused’s mobile phones have also been seized. However, the source of the leak of the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) question paper is yet to be determined. Once the SIT is formed, the investigation across all districts will be conducted jointly. On the night of February 21, Koderma police, with the assistance of Giridih police, raided several locations in the Jamua area, where four people were detained. They were brought to Giridih’s Nagar police station for questioning. The four suspects detained from Jamua are accused of sending the question paper to some students in Sihodih, Giridih.
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has issued instructions to all District Education Officers (DEOs) to remain in constant contact with their district commissioners. If any unwarranted content related to the exams is found on social media, it should be reported to the district’s DC and the cyber cell. DEOs have also been directed to conduct regular visits to examination centers, ensuring no negligence in the process.
