Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on Wednesday described the Simdega Mob Lynching as an extremely painful incident. He had summoned DGP Neeraj Sinha to the Raj Bhawan and collected detailed information so far regarding the progress in the case. Raj Bhawan sources said that the Governor has asked the DGP to take strict action against negligent officers. He has further directed to complete the probe into the incident and initiate legal proceedings against the culprits. Widow of Sanju Pradhan had on Tuesday met Governor Ramesh Bais and sought a CBI probe into the mob lynching of her husband.
Sapna Devi had demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the mob lynching incident. She had also raised questions over the functioning of the local police which has arrested the uncle of her deceased husband for no reason. She further alleged that on the day of the incident the policemen forcibly took her signature on three blank papers despite her not being in even a stable condition. She had said that she was extremely shattered over the happenings and demanded a CBI probe so that her late husband could get justice.
On Monday also a delegation of BJP led by the leader of the legislature wing Babulal Marandi and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das had met the Governor and sought for a CBI probe into the Simdega Mob lynching incident and along with that had demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the kin and a government job. Sanju Pradhan, in his 30s, was lynched and set on fire by a mob on suspicion of his involvement in illegal felling of trees and trading in stolen wood on January 4 in Besrajara Bazaar under Kolibera Police station area of Simdega district.
The Simdega Police has claimed to have arrested Suban Budh among others who according to them is the main conspirator
behind the incident. In this connection, police has registered a case against 13 named and 25 unnamed accused.
