Mumbai – Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar, known for her roles in Mirzapur, The Broken News, and Taaza Khabar, takes on the role of a police officer in her upcoming streaming series, Chhal Kapat: The Deception.
The teaser for the show was unveiled on Saturday. Set against the backdrop of an intimate wedding in Burhanpur, the narrative takes a sinister turn when one of the bride’s closest friends is found dead. What begins as a joyous celebration quickly spirals into a tense murder mystery filled with secrets, betrayals, and hidden resentments among lifelong friends.
Pilgaonkar plays Inspector Devika, a sharp and intuitive cop with a mysterious past. As she leads the investigation, long-buried truths begin to surface, testing relationships and blurring the lines between loyalty and deception.
Directed by Ajay Bhuyan and produced by Juggernaut Productions, the series also features Kamya Ahlawat, Ragini Dwivedi, Tuhina Das, Yahhve Sharma, Pranay Pachauri, Smaran Sahu, and Anuj Sachdeva.
Chhal Kapat: The Deception is slated to premiere on ZEE5 in June.
In 2024, Shriya Pilgaonkar was invited to join the jury for the Shorts category at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA). Reflecting on the experience, she shared, “I am honoured and thrilled to be a jury member for the short film category at IFFLA 2024. I look forward to watching the brilliant work of emerging South Asian filmmakers.”
